Mastectomy Cushion - Maggie's Fundraiser
Make a heart shaped cushion to help someone feel more comfortable after breast cancer surgery
Service Description
After a mastectomy or lumpectomy, a mastectomy cushion can help to make you feel much more comfortable. When my mum was waiting for her lumpectomy in February this year, Maggie's Forth Valley gave her a heart shaped cushion which had been donated to them. At a difficult time like this, such a simple act of kindness can make all the difference, and at The Auld Atelier, we want to return the favour so that others can receive the same support and kindness. Over the first two weeks in April, come along to The Auld Atelier in Paisley to make a mastectomy cushion for charity. The heart shaped cushion is designed to gently curve around the armhole, providing soft, comfortable support. The workshop is open to adults and children over the age of 8, and you don't need any sewing experience to take part. At the end of the session, your cushion will be kept with all of the other Maggie's cushions to be donated to Maggie's Forth Valley, Maggie's Glasgow, or - should they be overwhelmed with the volume of donations - to other relevant charities, hospitals or groups. In addition to your cushion, all profits from the price of your workshop will also be split evenly between Maggie's Forth Valley and Maggie's Glasgow. Various times are available each day, so scroll through the calendar to check availability and get booked in. Together, let's see how much we can raise to help Maggie's continue their wonderful work.
