Stretch Class - Thursday Afternoons

Service Description

This Stretch Sewing  course is the perfect way to continue developing your sewing skills and venture into the world of sewing stretchy fabrics.   This course will teach you to use both your regular sewing machine and an overlocker to create items and garments with stretchy fabrics.  You will learn the correct machine settings & techniques to create your own projects as well as how to set up an overlocker, giving you the chance to see just how much an overlocker can bring to your sewing.  Along the way, you will be able to add your skills samples to your workbook of all the techniques and projects which you will be able to refer back to at home any time. You will develop your pattern reading and preparation skills, and take away a digital pattern of all your finished projects.  This course is not suitable for complete beginners.  You should be able to set up a sewing machine, follow a seam allowance and prepare a paper pattern to make a garment.  It is expected that, after instruction on the specific requirements for stretchy fabric, you will be able to cut out your fabric at home.  If you haven't used a paper pattern before, you would benefit from taking at least one level of the regular sewing classes.  If you're unsure if you're ready for the Stretch Course, please get in touch to have a chat about your current sewing skills and what you're looking to learn next. For existing students, although it is perfectly possible to complete this course after level 1, you are likely to feel more comfortable and confident after level 2 or 3. THERE ARE NO CLASSES ON THURSDAY 25TH DECEMBER AND 1ST JANUARY. Classes are limited to 7 people.   I know that people sometimes need to take time off and I work hard to accommodate that.
